Dear Readers, I am pleased to welcome you to the last edition of the SEDCO Holding Group newsletter for 2015. We hope that you had a prosperous year, and we wish you the same for 2016.

Tamer 2015 was outstanding on all fronts enjoying multiple successes through our diversified portfolio of direct investments. We are proud that SEDCO Holding Group and the Operating Companies have been recognized by third parties and awarded in a number of areas, for instance in corporate governance, risk management, social responsibility, marketing, as well as in human resources. Our solid foundations that have been built for the past 40 years, helped sustain our growth and make our brands and achievements well recognized.

On a business level, our operating company ‘Tarfeeh’ has opened seven new outlets this year. ‘Tarfeeh’ which has the master franchise in KSA for Applebee’s and Macaroni Grill, has also introduced the South African ‘Ocean Basket’ seafood franchise recently to the country.
As appointed by the ‘Great Place to Work Institute’, SEDCO Holding Group ranked eighth for the year, up from 11th. Nahdi Medical Company, has also been voted as the fifth best workplace in KSA for displaying excellence in Human Resources. Furthermore, based on our key focus on corporate governance in all our business practices, the Group won the ‘Golden Peacock Global Award for Excellence in Corporate Governance’, last December. Our CEO Anees Moumina received the award in London at the 15th International Conference on Corporate Governance and Sustainability.
To pursue our mission towards sustainability, we focused on expanding our financial literacy program, ‘Riyali’, by launching an independent e-learning system. I am also proud to highlight that ‘Riyali’ was awarded as the ‘Best CSR Impact Initiative’ at the prestigious CSR Saudi Arabia 2015 Summit, because it demonstrates a tangible benefit to our society. Moreover, we crafted our green building strategy to enhance our commitment towards the environment in 2016, starting from within the Group.
In terms of leadership excellence, our CEO, Anees Moumina, also received the ‘Revolutionary CEO of the Year’ award at the Ninth Annual CFO Strategies Forum MENA 2015, held in Dubai in October. The award is granted annually, covering the MENA Region to recognize exceptional Chief Executives, after evaluating the potential of the individual in achieving success.
On a marketing front, Red Sea Mall continued its international winning streak with two CMO Asia awards for marketing excellence. During the annual ceremony held in Dubai, Red Sea Mall was named winner of the ‘Most Popular Shopping Center’ award for 2015, as well as the ‘CSR Best Practices’ award.
It has been shown that brands which invest during market downturns are more likely to be the fastest to grow when market trends are more benevolent. I am pleased to witness all of our companies investing in building their brands actively, and utilizing new channels of communication which will definitely set them apart from competition.
