photo   OWAIS BASULOUH TELLS US WHAT SECONDMENT PROGRAM IS

Secondment program is a global best practice implemented by pioneer companies in which a high performing employee or more from SEDCO Group join the Internal Audit “IA” team for a period of one full audit cycle normally twelve to fifteen month to add value through providing subject matter expertise and to assist Internal Audit Department in fulfilling its role. With this approach, the program will promote a better understanding and appreciation of IA activities and responsibilities and exchange the knowledge and expertise between the Secondee, the Releasing Function or Company and the IA.

In this regard, Mr. Owais says: ” I was the first person to take the program and enrolled into the Risk Audit department, in the internal audit role. I hope I’ve added value – I, for one, have learned a lot. I joined the program because it provides a unique opportunity to help out in ways that you don’t explore in my IT department. From an audit perspective, the solutions needed are more strategic and have direct impact on the business. One of the main selling points of this program, is simply being able to acquire a different viewpoint of the business and meeting the objectives that are put for the audit teams by the shareholders and the Board Members, then of course reporting on them and assessing the processes.”

Mr. Owais adds “In IT, we don’t realize the impact of the issues that our businesses may be facing. We focus on delivering solutions, using IT systems, softwares etc. In the audit world, my colleagues are uniquely positioned to identify potential risks on a Group and on each Operating Company’s or business level. I was impressed with this learning, acquiring a different viewpoint and it is an experience that you can only understand once you’ve worn someone else’s hat. It was an eye-opener: the auditors’ mandate to assess and report potential risks simply affects us and saves us all.”Secondment program is a global best practice implemented by pioneer companies in which a high performing employee or more from SEDCO Group join the Internal Audit “IA” team for a period of one full audit cycle normally twelve to fifteen month to add value through providing subject matter expertise and to assist Internal Audit Department in fulfilling its role.
