  photo   FORUM GRADUATES 30 TALENTED DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKERS

Sponsored by the Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al-Barrak, and organized by Salem bin Mahfouz Foundation and ATHAR Academy in coordination with the General Directorate of Education in Jeddah, the “Promising Talents” Forum recently graduated 30 talented youth in “documentary filmmaking” after a series of training workshops hosted by field experts.

Notable attendees of the graduation ceremony included Mr. Abdullah Al-Thagafi, Director General of the General Directorate of Education in Jeddah, Mr. Abdullah Al Ofeis, Director of the Gifted Program at the Ministry of Education, Mr. Ahmed Al Zahrani, Deputy Director of Educational Affairs at the General Directorate of Education in Jeddah and Mr. Abdullah Al Syood, Director of the Gifted Program at the General Directorate of Education in Jeddah, as well as a number of leaders from the educational sector.

Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Barrak, Deputy Minister of Education, confirmed that educational methods have evolved to include skills such as filmmaking. Mr. Abdullah Al Syood, Director of the Gifted Program at the General Directorate of Education in Jeddah, stated that the “Promising Talents” Forum was able to partner with Salem bin Mahfouz Foundation during its first year in operation. He further stated that the program targets one talented filmmaker per year by using a predefined criteria to determine the finalist. All participants’ films were shown in local middle and high schools to encourage other aspiring students to join the field of filmmaking.
